Take 5 with Jim "Doogie" Heuser

JK=Me
JH: Jim Heuser, Pitcher, Vancouver Canadians (right)

JK: Being from Illinois, I have to ask, White Sox or Cubs?

JH: WHITE SOX

JK: You hear athletes talk about Home Field Advantage, how much does home field advantage really affect one's play?

JH: It just makes the players more comfortable when they're playing at home. The fans are cheering for your team, you know how the field plays, the feel of the mound, and where the walls are. It's just a better more relaxing atmosphere.

JK: You were known as "Doogie" Heuser (from the show Doogie Houser) by
the fans in Vancouver this season, has that nickname followed you
around most of your career ?

JH: I have heard people call me that here and there, but never has really stuck to me very long.

JK: "Southpaws" are usually considered to be only good pitchers, was
this your natural position, or were you well rounded?

JH: I played mostly outfield and firstbase growing up, sometimes I pitched, but could never hit. I got into pitching more around the age of 16 or 17.

JK: This season you went from playing in 100 degree heat in Spokane, to
playing in 45 degree rain in Vancouver just days later, is it hard
to adjust pitching wise to drastic temperature changes, or do you
just need to concentrate more?

JH: Its all mental. As long as your prepared, the conditions shouldn't matter. They only matter if u let them.

JK: Thanks Jim, good luck!
